Red Flag #81: She studied abroad in Paris…

Red Flag #81: She studied abroad in ParisIt’s an experience many people regard as the best time of their lives, and others regard as something they wish they would have done. Going away to college brings with it a sense of freedom, but going abroad takes that freedom and injects a sense of energy, life, and adventure.

The decision of where to study is not an easy one. There are so many choices and so many different types of experiences. It’s why your study abroad destination is such a telling piece of information in the dating world. You wanted to live in a place that reflects who you are, and where you’d feel the most fulfilled.

Fact check us if you may, but we’re pretty confident in our assessment of the most popular study abroad destinations and what they say about the women that chose them:

Australia – unless you’re living under Ayers Rock, you know that the choice to study abroad in Australia had nothing to do with study and culture – unless, of course, you consider “studying” hanging out at Bondi beach during the day and “culture” being the same as discovering that they don’t actually drink Foster’s in the land down under. If this was your choice of destination, you’re definitely fun and you might be a slut. Either way, you’re cool in our book.

England – when making the decision, you definitely considered Australia, but your parents wouldn’t allow it because all their friends would judge them for giving you the green light to go party for six months. So, you went for the second best thing – a place where you knew the language, the accent is nice, and you had a home base for all of the amazing travel you could do throughout Europe. If this was your choice of destination, you’re practical, probably pretty cool, and you’re attractive by nature of the fact that you like to travel.

Spain/Italy – you had friends that were doing the Australia and England thing, but you wanted more. Unfortunately, it’s that desire that also brings you closer to red flag territory. Both of these countries provided an opportunity for you to experience truly different cultures, rich with history, stunning museums, and theatre that makes Phantom of the Opera look like your high school’s rendition of Annie. If this was your choice of destination, you’re definitely more conservative, but not necessarily to a fault. You’ve got some fun streaks in you, but there’s some worry in our future together where you’ll refuse to buy Three-Buck-Chuck, drive a Volvo, and become a wannabe foodie.

And then, of course, there’s France. Your vision was blurred, as was your sense of reality. Spain and Italy were certainly in your consideration set, but only because it would make you feel better about choosing France. We all know that there was never a doubt in your mind – France was your choice all along. After all, ever since you were a little girl you dreamed of falling in love underneath the Eiffel Tower where Jacques, a sensible, well-dressed Frenchman would sweep you off your feet with his eyes, his words, and his touch. Oh, his touch! Just thinking about it now sends shivers down your spine!

Let us bring you back to reality. If this was your choice in destination, you take one step forward in attractiveness because of your sense of travel, but ten steps backward because of your poor decision-making and ultimate craziness. And don’t even try to give us the defense that you went there because you were studying French. That’s about as good of an excuse as you saying your PMS is the reason you’re being such a bitch. You’re too caught up in yourself, and almost certainly you’re a princess. You never had an authentic desire for culture. Instead, you liked the idea of culture, the idea of being more artistic, and the idea of being more refined. You’re the same exact girl that loves the idea of a wedding more than she does the man to whom she is getting married. You need to escape from your own reality and join everyone else in actual reality.

I guess not all fairy tales have a happy ending, huh?

You decide: how red is this flag?

Dude, these are just thoughts on what type of girl you might be getting involved in, and there different guys stereotypical (maybe ignorant) opinions of what that means about her. Just like women have conversations about guys, analysing things we do, what it means if we do this and joke around about it, we do it about women. Obviously all these arent “red flags” theyre just thoughts. Some ignorant and inaccurate, some funny, some true. Like alot of things girls say about guys theyre gf’s might be dating.
